I know it's a little late, but...

I know it's a little late, but I have a new blog:

The entries are near-daily, and much shorter than this blog's entries. It's more for the man-on-the-go than the avid reader. If you have time, enjoy!

The Final Post

Hello, boys and girls. I have officially landed in Portland, Oregon. Now I'm back in my hometown, relaxing and sleeping off my jet lag. I foolishly thought I had managed to overcome jet lag on sheer willpower, but that was before I woke up this evening at 7pm and realized how wrong I was.

It feels strange to be back in America, especially back in my own home. The culture differences were readily apparent from the moment I landed at LAX to catch my connecting flight. The bathrooms were far dirtier and everything was more expensive. The food tasted different and people complained a lot louder than they ever did in Fukushima. But these are all small things. I'm still glad to be back, and have already begun planning the next stage in my life.

Sadly, this means the end of the "Daily Life" blog. From hereonafter, I'll be pretty busy with job hunting and apartment hunting. You can follow me on Twitter (@nickshogun) or my other blog, NickFlickPick (which I need to update soon). I just want to say "thank you" for following me up until now, and I hope I have satiated your taste for Japanese culture. Believe me when I say getting to Japan is not that difficult... it's leaving that's the hard part!

Sincerely,
Nick Martin

Dawn of The Final Day: 24 Hours Remain

So, we've finally arrived. In less than 24 hours, I will be on an airplane bound for America. After nine long months, I'm leaving Japan. What a year it has been! I've had a multitude of fun and annoying experiences. I've successfully captivated classrooms full of children. I made new friends, lost some old ones, and still came out on top.

In all honesty, there's not much left to say about Japan. I've made 118 posts on this blog since I arrived (roughly one every two and a half days). In addition to my own experiences, I tried to give you some insight into my lifestyle and how Japanese culture functions in respects to the daily routine you all know and are accustomed to. Once I touch down in Oregon, I'll write one more post to wrap things up, but after that I'll be focusing entirelly on NickPickFlick and my passion for filmmaking.

So, no updates for the next 48 hours or so. Hang in there! Check back again on Wednesday or Thursday :)

P.S. If you didn't get it, the previous post was an April Fool's joke.
